How To Avoid Getting Age Spots


Age spots on the skin are a common feature associated with aging. They are somewhat black or discoloured spots that appear on the skin. Too many spots compromise your beauty and personality and diminish your visual appeal. So avoiding appearance of age spots is very important.

Age spots are primarily caused due to exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. The process starts from childhood and progresses with aging. Other causes of age spots are negligence of skin care, extensive use of aggressive cosmetics, dietary indulgence, poor lifestyle and incidence of diseases.

Use of sunscreens, particularly those that block both UVA and UVB rays and have SPF of more than 15, are recommended to minimize sunray related damages to the skin. Wearing full-sleeve shirts and wide-brimmed hats when outdoor in the sun also cut down age spots. The sunrays are strongest during 10-00 AM to 2-00 PM. Staying outdoor in direct exposure of the sun during this period is strongly recommended.

Alpha-hydroxy lotions are also very useful in keeping skin smooth and clear. They help the skin to absorb and retain additional moisture which gives your skin a wonderful, silky-smooth and non-greasy feel. Such moist conditions of the skin do not allow age spots to appear. Applying this lotion two to three times a day gives excellent results.

Apart from lotions etc, another great way of reducing age spots is eating wholesome diets comprising less fat and less sugar, and more of green vegetables, salads, fresh fruits and plenty of fluids.
