Anti-aging Properties of Avocados


The best fruit source of Vitamin E, avocados are almost indispensable when it comes to overall good health and fitness. It has a number of fascinating anti-aging properties and provides relief from symptoms of many critical diseases that are common with aging.

Avocados contain a very high proportion of folate, which makes it a great friend of the heart. One cup of avocado has 23% of the Daily Recommended Value of folate and there a many studies that show that people who take folate regularly have less incidence of heart diseases than those who do not. Avocados also reduce the risk of stroke, a condition that is quite common among the elderly due to poor condition of heart and blood circulation problems.

When it comes to fighting the risk of prostrate cancer and several forms of oral cancer, hardly anything matches avocados. It is highly recommended for people who are forty plus to take a serving of avocados daily. Avocado, with a high content of oleic acid, is also very good to fight the risk of breast cancer.

Avocados have carotenoid lutein that protects against macular degeneration and cataracts, conditions that are very common among the elderly. They are also powerful antioxidants and help fight the threat of cellular decay and disfiguration due to intensive free radical hits that mark the body with advancing age.

Other very important anti-aging properties of avocados include their extremely proactive role in improving absorption of nutrients, lowering cholesterol and improving immunity.
