Botox Treatment.....Risk of Procedure vs. Natural Supplements.Botox treatment has gained tremendous popularity over the last few years for various aesthetic applications and pain management. It has created big waves in the skincare industry. Botulinum Toxin Type A or Botox is derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and is extensively applied for non-surgical cosmetic treatment for controlling and reducing severe frown lines, wrinkles and other facial aberrations that are particularly common among the aged people. Moreover, Botox injections have also been found to very effective as adjuncts to physical therapies in treating muscular spasms that are also common among the elderly. The botox injection relaxes the sore muscle and prepares ground for the physical therapist to apply the restorative procedures to relieve muscle spasms. Although approved by FDA for cosmetic application and other interventions, Botox still poses numerous risks for willing patients. The Botulinum Toxin has been cited as a lethal and most poisonous substance for humans. Botox treatments have been associated with many risks and potential adversities. Probable side effects and risks after Botox treatment include headache, temporary drooping of eyelids, flu-like symptoms, double vision, squint eye, nausea, spasms of the eyes, swollenness or redness at the area of injection, bleeding, bruising, facial pain and muscle weakness. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders may be at a higher risk of serious side effects. Botox treatments do not suit people who have a known history of allergies or have nerve disorders. Elderly people who consider Botox treatment as an option to reduce some of the symptoms of aging, such as loss of skin firmness, facial aches and muscular spasms should weigh the pros and cons carefully, giving adequate thought to these factors and other concerns like diminishing immunity and use of different medications. Several alternative therapies and natural supplements can be used for correction of skin adversities, wrinkles, fine lines, frown lines and muscular spasm including headaches and migraines in place of Botox treatment. They give more long-term and risk-free results. There are natural aesthetic dermal fillers that re-establish fullness of the skin and correct facial wrinkles and folds. These cosmetic fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in the human body. These fillers are completely biocompatible with hyaluronic acid existing within the human body, thus preventing any allergic reactions. The same goes for acupuncture. This ancient Chinese treatment is known for its healing properties and initiates health and wellbeing. The acupuncture facial brings adds a brilliant radiance to the face and is extremely rejuvenating when combined with a good herbal facial. Moreover, acupuncture is known to be very effective for treatment of nerve pains and muscle spasms that frequently affect the aged people. Good diets, regular exercises, physiotherapy, supplementation with vitamins, minerals and herbs rich in antioxidants and skin beautifiers, adequate rest and regular skin rejuvenation through massages, facials and hydrotherapies also help to stay better and look younger. These natural approaches are in many ways better and less risky compared to Botox treatment.
