What Causes Grey Hair When We AgeWorried with grey hair? Well, it's a natural accompaniment of aging. You can hardly avoid it. Premature greying of hair is of course a matter of concern. Sometimes it can be related to heredity. Otherwise it may be due to some illness. What causes grey hair when we age? The hair follicles that are located at the base of our hair die with age. These follicles are particularly responsible for the pigment that gives the hair its color. When the follicles die, there is no more of hair color and hair begins to look transparent. This is commonly what we describe as grey hair. Even if you pluck away one strand of grey hair, the next strand and all consequent strands that grow from the dead follicle are always grey. Other than dying or getting your hair shaved (for men only), you cannot stop the menace of grey hair. However, you can control grey hair from appearing too early. The tips are good dieting, regular exercises and taking supplements. Vitamin and minerals enriched foods provide vitality to the hair follicles. You get them mostly from fruits and vegetables. Sugar and fatty foods weaken the system and make the aging body more prone to diseases. Limit them as much as possible. Regular exercises among others improve blood circulation. This helps the hair follicles draw more nutrients from the bloodstream. And finally supplements. Antioxidant supplements reduce the damage to hair follicles caused by excessive free radical hits associated with aging. When the damage is less, the longevity of the hair follicles is ensured and you can enjoy longer years of grey hair-free life. |
