Supplements-Antioxidants
Anti-Aging.

Are supplements-antioxidants needed? For many Americans the thought of aging is frightening, but the idea of looking old is horrifying. The great question of the 21st century is, “How can I avoid aging?” For those who have an aversion to paralyzing injections and painful surgery there is a bottle waiting to be purchased at your local drug store. The most prominent among these contain supplements-antioxidants vitamins and calcium.

What are antioxidants? They are a combination of vitamins and minerals, which reduce the damage to cells caused by free radicals. This harm can cause the appearance of aging and impair the body. Some of the better known anti oxidants vitamins and the recommended daily allowance (RDA)

Vitamin A 900 micrograms (3000 IU) for men (International Units) 700 micrograms (2300 IU) for women

Vitamin C 90 milligrams per day and no more than 2 grams per day (2000 milligrams per day)

Vitamin E 15 mg minimum to 1000 mg maximum for men and women

Beta Carotene men and women 5000 - 25,000 IU

Selenium 55 mcg to 400 mcg for men and women

Zinc women; 8 mg to 40 men mg: 11 mg to 40 mg

These are usually found in better brands of vitamins.

What are free radicals? Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. Once formed, these radicals can start a chain reaction, like dominoes. The danger comes from the damage they can do when they react with important cellular components such as DNA, or the cell membrane. Cells may function poorly or die if this occurs. Fighting free radicals can help protect the central nervous system, strengthen the immune system, aid in cardiovascular health, and give increased protection against heart attack and stroke.

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. Ninety-nine percent is found in the bones, which is the support system for holding the body upright. Calcium is needed for muscle contraction, blood vessel contraction, and expansion, the secretion of hormones and enzymes, and sending messages through the nervous system. The average adult needs 1000 mg a day.

With age, small vitamin and mineral deficiencies accumulate over time. This can lead to premature aging and health problems. Therefore, it is important to supplement a healthy diet with a quality vitamin. The best way to take your vitamin is in the morning with your breakfast. Yes, you need food for this meal, not just a cup of coffee. Taking the vitamin on an empty stomach can cause belching and stomach upset throughout the day.

By taking a quality vitamin, which contains supplements-antioxidants needed to fight free radicals and 1000mg of calcium daily, you just might not look your age without the need for serums, injections, a face lift, or painful hair removal.
