Vitamin E as a Valuable Tool of Anti Aging.

Vitamin E is believed to be the most important vitamin available to us to delay the aging process. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that fights cancer and arteriosclerosis. It is difficult to get your daily dose from food alone as 5000 high fat calories would have to be ingested per day to achieve the dose. The RDA recommends 25 IU as a daily dose, but bumping up to 400 IU is thought to prevent artery disease. The ill effects of not getting enough vitamin E have been compared to the risks of smoking.

Vitamin E has also been linked to preventing the clogging of arteries due to free radicals causing plaque build up.

To get the 400 IU of vitamin E, which would provide the maximum health and anti aging affects, you would need to eat the equivalent of 2 quarts of corn oil, or 28 cups of peanuts. Therefore a supplement is recommended. As with anything you put in your body, however, there is such a thing as “too much”. The risk of toxicity presents itself when you get up over 800 IU. Some common reactions to overdose are blood thinning, headache, diarrhea and a raise in blood pressure. So if you are contemplating upping your vitamin E level to experience its health and anti aging benefits, be sure to keep track of amounts ingested and stay under 800 IU.
