Water Consumption and Anti Aging.

How important is water consumption? Water is the giver and sustainer of life. Our bodies are made up of almost 70% of the stuff; it’s in our muscles, brains and lungs. It takes oxygen to our cells and allows our body to rid itself of wastes. In short, we can’t live without it.

To figure out how much water you need, divide your body weight in half. This number is the amount of ounces of pure, filtered water you need to drink every day. A 150 lb. person needs 75 oz. a day- at least nine of 8 oz. each. If you’re dieting, drink an extra glass for every 25 lbs. of extra weight.

Water can be the key to permanent weight loss because it suppresses the appetite naturally. Drink a big glass of water when you feel hungry and before meals; hunger pains will be lessened and you’ll stop eating sooner. Studies have shown that drinking water can temporarily increase metabolism and burn calories.

When we diet, the breakdown of body fat and muscle produces waste material. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily will help the kidneys flush out these toxins and quicken the weight loss process. Just like crash diets make the body think it’s starving because of severe cutbacks in food, not drinking enough water causes the body to go into survival mode and it will strive to hang on to every drop. The result is water weight gain, and it shows up as swollen hands, feet and legs. Again, the solution is drinking plenty of water, 6-8 glasses a day; so if you don’t want to store water, drink water.

Water is a dieter’s friend-it helps the body metabolize fat stored in cells. Here’s how it works. When your kidneys are overworked they don’t efficiently filter the body’s toxins. The kidneys pass some of their workload to the liver, causing it to work overtime. That means less energy for you since the livers’ main job is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy; it also means fat stays in the body longer. So we need our kidneys functioning well, and drinking the right amount of water daily helps that happen.

For better muscle tone and more youthful looking skin, again, water is the answer. Better muscle tone means muscles have better contraction ability and are not as likely to leave you with that saggy look after dieting. Water consumption will plump those shrinking cells due to weight loss, keeping them healthy and happy and giving you that youthful glow.

Water is a must for colon health. Our body’s main internal water source is the colon and when we don’t drink enough our body will take what it needs from internal sources, specifically the colon. Our bowels need water to push waste material through; when the water consumption isn’t there we suffer with the dreaded C word-constipation. Waste elimination is slowed even more, toxins build up and we feel sluggish.

Water is the all around anti-aging drink-be sure you get your daily dose.
